Before there was even a thought in my mind that my high school sweetheart would become my future fiancé, I had always dreamed of having my engagement pictures taken at Disneyland. The fact that my husband-to-be and I have shared so many wonderful memories at the Happiest Place on Earth was just an awesome bonus. It takes two seriously devoted Disney-lovers to risk battling the ever-crowded park and hope for beautiful professional photos. In case any of you were thinking about taking your engagement photos here (or are thinking about it now!) I wanted to share what I learned throughout the process and offer up some tips and advice. Tip #1: Get an awesome photographer There are tons of Anaheim-based professionals who will travel to Disneyland to take your pictures. I even found services (such as Flytographer) who specialize in destination photo shoots. Some will already have passes, and some you will need to chip in for. All of the potential options I found had sites where you can view their previous Disneyland shoots to make sure you love their style. After a lot of research we finally find our photographer, Jordan Kubat. He is amazingly talented and such a blast to work with. I would highly recommend him for any professional shoots you need, especially if you live in SoCal. You can find him here. Tip #2: Anything in Disneyland can be a great photo op! I had a list of places I really wanted to take photos at (mainly based on Pinterest ideas), but Disneyland crowds can be unpredictable. We ended up taking photos at all sorts of random spots that I would have never thought of. From the lamp posts in New Orleans Square, to the top of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, there are tons of opportunities for gorgeous shots. So don't worry if one spot doesn't work out, there are plenty more great spots just waiting to be discovered! Tip #3: Keep a Flexible Schedule If it's possible, try and get your photographer to spend a good part of the day with you. Sure, you can get some great photos in just a couple of hours, but it was so nice not feeling like we had to rush. If we decided to wait in line for a ride in order to try and capture some cool shoots, our time allowed us to do so. Tip #4: Be Comfortable The most important thing when picking out our clothes for the shoot was comfort. I couldn't imagine trying to walk around the park in heels and didn't want my guy to be hurting either, so I made sure our outfits worked with whatever shoes we wanted to wear. The last thing I wanted was to to look exhausted and sore in the photos! I will post a Part 2 to this blog once our official photos come back. But if you want a sneak peek, check out the preview snapshots that I stole from Jordan's camera. Leave a comment below if you have any questions for me or want more info on our Disneyland Engagement Shoot. Happy to help!
